The Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB, Stuttgart, combines biology and engineering to develop solutions for precision medicine, a sustainable bioeconomy and a climate-neutral and resource-efficient circular economy.
The Virus-based Therapies branch in Biberach develops and characterizes new targeted virus therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and genetic diseases as well as methods for their production and preclinical testing. The key objectives are to optimize the specificity, efficacy and safety of the therapeutic viruses. This will enable the cost-efficient production of these promising medical agents and facilitate their clinical application in patients.
The Virus-based therapies branch acts as an interface between science and industry and provides the prerequisites for accelerating the translation of virus-based therapeutics.
